Professional Background and Setting
I am a psychotherapist with over thirty-five years’ experience, operating from my private practice in a tranquil rural village, situated five miles from Cambridge, UK. My work primarily involves engaging with clients in face-to-face sessions, though I also offer online therapy for those residing further afield or in other countries.
Collaborative Counselling Approach
My therapeutic approach has gradually developed into what I describe as a collaborative counselling conversational style. In partnership with my clients, we delve into exploring the core of their being—uncovering sources of pain, moments of joy, and passions that drive them. My aim is to support individuals in discovering their true selves, thereby enriching their experience and presence in the world.
Focus on Family Histories and Shared Human Experience
I am deeply interested in family histories and transgenerational resonances, and I have long been captivated by the diversity of our personal stories. Despite our differences, I am constantly amazed by the common threads that unite us all.
Integrating Creativity and Imagination
With a strong interest in Eastern and historical philosophies, and drawing on my background as a ceramics, art, and drama teacher, I am passionate about weaving imagination, imagery, and symbolism into my therapy sessions. Throughout my career as a therapist, I have incorporated creative and expressive arts whenever suitable, believing these practices can rekindle curiosity and wonder in everyday life.
Client Profile
Most of my clients are professionals working in health, care, human resources, education, and related fields, seeking to deepen their self-development and awareness. Some may be experiencing feelings of loneliness, emptiness, or a lack of purpose and fulfilment in life.
Core Values
Above all, I am committed to nurturing the true potential within each individual. I never underestimate the transformative power of gentleness, tenderness, kindness, and compassion in this process, recognising that everyone occasionally needs these qualities in their lives.
